3 Ways to Introduce Scripture to E.L.L.s

Here are 3 tools I use when teaching my English language learners in our Introduction to Christianity class.  I'm not getting paid to endorse programs, they just work for me!

1.Use bilingual Bibles when reading Scripture in class.
It makes a whole lot more sense when you can see it in your first language, and it builds students' vocabulary.  Understand, however, that the language and concepts used in Scripture are most likely difficult to understand even if read in your native language.
I have included links below of the Bibles I have used in my classroom.

2.Use online tools like Bible Gateway.  
This site allows you to change the verse or passage to many different languages. Read the verse in English, change the language and have the students read it again. Then, go back to English and read it again.

3. Use Our Daily Bread online to read short devotionals.
The tool at the top of the page allows you to change the language and see the entire devotional in the students first language.

These are affiliate links to the bilingual Bibles I have used in my classroom.  I have found that Korean and Vietnamese bilingual Bibles are much more difficult to find or afford.  I have instead purchased single-language Bibles in both languages or OT and NT editions.  At this point I have found the best prices on Amazon.
